Say hello to our brand new Trending Now logo!

We are proud to announce the launch of our new logo as part of the ongoing evolution of our company’s brand. However, there’s a little more to the story…

Some of you may have read the recent article in Press Gazette about Trending Now reaching 1 million subscriptions in under two years. Not only did the article give us a fantastic boost in exposure for our brand but it also resulted in us being contacted by media giants ‘Buzzfeed’.

Buzzfeed sent us a letter stating that our logo infringed on their trademarked logo. This took us all by surprise. As a business whose sole purpose is to share ‘trending’ news and the fact that we have the word ‘trending’ literally in our registered company name, we couldn’t quite believe it. It’s like someone trademarking the ‘infinity’ symbol, it just doesn’t seem fair.

By having the globally recognised symbol for ‘trending’ (the tilted zig zag arrow) in our logo, it meant we had infringed on another businesses trademarked logo. Google Trends uses a similar symbol, and so does TikTok with TikTok Trends. But hey-ho, it turns out our logos were very similar. It just took us reaching over 1m subscriptions to realise.

So, we decided to turn this into an opportunity. We saw it as a good omen. Any publicity is good publicity, especially as we’re a young startup. We didn’t fancy taking on the likes of Buzzfeed either…

So here we are! Our new logo has arrived, and we think it looks significantly better than it did before. Maybe the generic symbol for ‘trending’ is outdated now anyway.

Joe Newton, Managing Director at Trending Now stated: “As history shows, all the most successful companies in the world have at some point had a dispute over their logos, branding and ownership, and we are no exception. We’re delighted to share this refreshed and more dynamic logo which reflects the ongoing evolution of our company’s brand.”

We hope you like our new logo as much as we do.
